He had a great first season, even scoring in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle in February.

But this season, at 31 years old, his performance has dropped.

The Guardian mentioned Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a new minority owner, who visited the club and questioned their transfer decisions. He cited the signing of Casemiro last summer as an example of what he sees as questionable recruitment.

United bought Casemiro from Real Madrid for €60 million (£51 million) in August of the previous year. At the time, the midfielder was 30 years old and signed a four-year contract earning around £350,000 per week.

According to The Guardian, United is now looking to improve four positions in January. This includes targeting a defensive midfielder due to concerns over the inconsistent form of both Casemiro and Sofyan Amrabat.

Sofyan Amrabat, who is on loan from Fiorentina, has started four league games. However, he was omitted from the lineup on Sunday against Everton in favor of 18-year-old academy talent Kobbie Mainoo.

United’s rumored plans for January transfers could lead to Casemiro leaving the club.

According to Relevo, there are claims that Casemiro is thinking about his choices before the January transfer window. He’s reportedly disappointed by United’s lack of competitiveness this season.

Reportedly, the Brazilian midfielder is interested in the idea of playing in Saudi Arabia. Especially because many of his former teammates currently play there.

His Real Madrid and Brazil teammates Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Fabinho, and Roberto Firmino form a star-studded group that Casemiro is familiar with. Their presence would assist him in settling into Saudi Arabia.

Additionally, Mainoo’s breakthrough performance might persuade United to consider the advantages of parting ways with Casemiro.

During United’s 3-0 victory over Everton, Mainoo made an impressive full debut. He displayed strength in tackling, winning 100% of his challenges, and made more ball recoveries than any other player in the team.

Moreover, Mainoo showcased his effectiveness in possession, displaying confident passing skills, especially while maneuvering on the half-turn.
