It’s been a turbulent campaign for Ten Hag and United, currently positioned at the bottom of Group A ahead of the Champions League clash with Galatasaray this week.

However, their recent Premier League performances have been a positive. They secured a 3-0 victory against Everton on Sunday, featuring a remarkable goal by Alejandro Garnacho.

As they prepare to face Okan Buruk’s side on Wednesday, United hopes to maintain their recent good form.

Before the Istanbul game, Erik ten Hag spoke with TNT Sports about various topics. However, one particular comment from the interview has sparked a significant reaction online.

As seen in the video below, the exchange unfolded as follows:

“Every week seems crucial, but this week seems particularly important for you,” the reporter remarked. “It could be a turning point for the season, or another challenging period as some outsiders might anticipate.”

Here’s the social media response to the video clip.

One supporter mentioned, “I don’t think the journalist necessarily meant it like that but good for ETH. So calm and composed.”

Another person commented, “Really strange thing for the interviewer to say.”

A third individual wrote, “He actually confirmed that they like seeing him struggle, that’s crazy… Props to ten Hag for the response.”

Another individual chimed in, stating, “What, and I must emphasise this, WHAT have I just watched? Thatโ€™s a crazy thing to say to him. Well dealt with by Erik.”

United, having suffered three losses in European competitions this season, need a victory against Galatasaray to maintain their hopes of advancing to the last 16.

Ten Hag is confident of their chances at Rams Park. “We know we can [win away in Europe] and we are confident,” he said in his pre-match press conference.

“The last games away from home in the league were also very hostile environments. We played very well. We were very calm and composed.”

He added: “We have to make it our game and it’s the history. Obviously Manchester United has a great history, but you can’t take any guarantee from it in the future, so we have to make our own future.

“It’s the past, so tomorrow it’s about the future, so we have to make it our game. It’s on us.”
