Newcastle United put an end to Chelsea’s three-game unbeaten streak, securing a commanding 4-1 victory at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Magpies have now achieved a rare feat, going unbeaten against Chelsea in three consecutive Premier League games for the first time since 1995.
Chelsea concluded the match with 10 players as Reece James received a red card.
Alexander Isak opened the scoring for Newcastle in the 13th minute, while Raheem Sterling leveled the score for Chelsea on 23 minutes.
Newcastle took control of the game with goals from Lascelles in the 60th minute and Joelinton in the 61st minute.
In the 73rd minute, Reece James was shown a red card after receiving a second yellow.
With seven minutes remaining, Anthony Gordon found the net, sealing the 4-1 victory for Newcastle.
The win propelled Newcastle to sixth place with 23 points, while Chelsea, with 16 points, sits in 10th position.
