Tottenham Hotspur have a lot of work to do in the summer to ensure the squad is as strong as it can be for next season in wake of this year’s struggles.

Spurs have been in the midst of an injury crisis for much of the season, which has severely hampered their efforts this term.

Although Tottenham did manage to bring in three more players in January, there’s scope for them to make even more reinforcements in the summer.

Spurs have been linked with a number of midfielders in recent months and now, according to reports from Italy, Yunus Musah is on Tottenham’s radar.

Legendary Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino rates Musah highly and has sung his praises in recent months.

Mauricio Pochettino hails ‘fantastic’ Yunus Musah

Pochettino currently manages the United States men’s football team and, as such, works with Musah on international duty.

Indeed, Musah scored the first goal of Pochettino’s USMNT reign, netting in the 2-0 friendly win over Panama in October 2024.

“Fantastic for him, fantastic for the team,” Pochettino told reporters after the game.

“And now maybe he will start to behave in a different way, where he can be full of confidence. That’s the important thing in our decision, to try to help him.”

Pochettino also said, as per Goal.com: “When he arrived, we were talking to him and trying to raise his confidence, maybe starting in a different position, but it was just one he’s played in the past.

“I think that was a good decision. It’s always worth trying to build his confidence to make a player feel that he can perform on the pitch.

“By the way, I knew him when was young and played in the academy of Arsenal and then moved to Valencia and played in the position that today we used. I think it’s not new for him.”

Meanwhile, Musah was pleased with Pochettino for having been able to play on the right wing, one of the few times he was able to do so for the USMNT.

“I could see, first of all, he knows a lot about my background,” Musah said after the game, as per Sporting News.

“He knows about my academy days, playing at Valencia, everything – that’s why today I played wide. Because he knows I can play wide, as well.

“It’s nice to have a coach who knows about me, has a lot of faith in me.”

What Fabrizio Romano has said about Mauricio Pochettino and Yunus Musah

In September last year, Romano spoke about how highly Pochettino rates Musah, to the point he wanted to sign him for Chelsea.

“Mauricio Pochettino has always appreciated Yunus Musah,” said Romano.

“He was one of the players under consideration for Pochettino’s project at Chelsea when Musah was at Valencia, but they made different decisions as Milan strongly wanted Musah.”

Musah ended up joining AC Milan from Valencia for around £17million in 2023, and he has made 68 appearances for the Rossoneri, registering four assists.
