Marcus Rashford has been dominating the headlines in recent weeks.
Rashford is ready to leave Manchester United as he looks for a new challenge away from Old Trafford.
However, here we are almost halfway through the January transfer window, and Rashford is still a United player.
There is interest in Rashford however.
AC Milan are keen on the attacker, West Ham are looking at Rashford, while Tottenham have been linked to Rashford too.
Of course, the forward’s huge wages are a stumbling block for any deal, and, right now, there is no concrete option on the table for the Manchester United star.
Speaking on The Athletic FC Podcast, David Ornstein has been discussing Rashford’s situation, and he says that he does think Rashford will get a move over the next few weeks.
Marcus Rashford likely to get January move
Ornstein spoke about Rashford’s situation.
The journalist says that there will be more meetings in the coming weeks to explore the England international’s options.
While there are some issues to iron out, Ornstein did put his neck on the line and say that he does expect Rashford to move this month.
“There were and will be multiple other meetings as they explore various avenues,” Ornstein said.
“The conditions of a deal, would you involve an option to buy or an obligation to buy? Would Manchester United be open to that? Would Rashford like to? There are suggestions he’s turned down three offers from the Saudi Pro League, but the Saudi Pro League pushed back on that and said there were no offers.
“If you were to ask me do I expect Marcus Rashford to depart Manchester United in this January transfer window – clip this up, take the mick out of me, a custard pie moment, yes I do.”
Who else could Manchester United sell?
Ornstein says that Rashford will get a move this month, and he’s not the only potential departure from Manchester United.
Indeed, it would appear as though there could be a mass exodus at Old Trafford this month.
Casemiro is ready to leave United, while Alejandro Garnacho is frustrated at the moment and potentially open to a move.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are interested in signing Kobbie Mainoo, so that could be a situation to watch as well.
United have had a terrible season so far, and sit firmly in mid-table.
After such a poor start, it’s not surprising to see that United could be looking to cull a few members of their squad in order to free up some of their wage budget in order to make wholesale changes.
United need to completely revamp their squad if they are to get back to where they want to be.
