Manchester City are putting plans in place for the future amid a dismal run of form.
Pep Guardiola believes the title race is already over as far as Manchester City are concerned this season, after a 2-0 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday made it four Premier League losses in a row.
The result leaves the Citizens fifth in the Premier League.
The main question mark was in regards to whether Guardiola would stay at the Etihad Stadium – as his contract was due to expire in July – although the Spaniard recently signed a new deal.
As a result, he and Hugo Viana – the Director of Football who is set to replace Txiki Begiristain in 2025 – can set about making plans for the future, with one senior figure already at risk in Kyle Walker.
Manchester City checking on Jeremie Frimpong with Kyle Walker free to leave
Sources have now informed TBR Football that Manchester City are ready to move on from the England international – despite the fact he still has 18 months remaining on his contract – with Jeremie Frimpong on the radar.
Walker has struggled so far this season, even appearing to lose his trademark speed as Timo Werner left him behind with ease, before setting up Brennan Johnson to hand Tottenham a 4-0 win at the Etihad Stadium recently.
Now, TBR Football understand Manchester City are ready to let the right-back move on, with clubs in the Saudi Pro League previously showing interest in the 34-year-old.
Bayern Munich also wanted Walker before he signed a new contract with the Citizens in September 2023.
TBR Football are aware Manchester City have been closely monitoring Frimpong – who left the Etihad Stadium for Celtic back in 2019 – and are huge admirers of the Netherlands international.

The Bayer Leverkusen No.30 – who spent ten years in the City Football Academy – is expected to depart Germany in 2025, with Real Madrid also keen on his signature.
TBR Football understand Liverpool also want to sign Frimpong – who has impressively scored 27 goals and assisted another 39 in 161 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen.
What Jeremie Frimpong has previously said about Manchester City
If Manchester City do make a bid for Frimpong in 2025, the Dutchman may jump at the chance to return based on what he has said in the past.
When asked about the possibility of him returning to the Etihad Stadium one day, the 23-year-old told Marca: “It would be great, but I don’t know. They have just won the Champions League and are the best team in the world. In the future we will see.”
Frimpong is valued at £33.6m – a sum we would expect Manchester City to be able to afford – so be sure to keep an eye on this situation.
