A couple of Swedish media outlets gave their verdict on Bergvall in wake of the 3-1 win in Azerbaijan.

Fotballskanalen said of Bergvall: “Tried to deal with the ball and be fearless. Failed at everything. Didn’t accomplish much.”

Meanwhile, Svenska Fans gave the Spurs gem a 2 out of 5 rating and wrote: “Wanted to do a lot but didn’t have time to get everything out. Alert.”

Aftonbladet journalist Erik Niva responded on the media outlet’s website to a fan who asked him whether Bergvall was the wrong choice at No. 6.

“It’s quite a lot like the central midfield role in this model, isn’t it?” he said.

“Otherwise, we’ll need to adjust the weighting, unless he ends up stepping into Alexander Isak’s role.”

Bergvall praised by Tottenham and Sweden teammate Dejan Kulusevski

A few days before the game, Tottenham ace Dejan Kulusevski spoke highly about Bergvall, his teammate for club and country.

The Spurs winger says he has noticed his compatriot giving his all in training and doing his best to learn from his new teammates.

“He has been fantastic,” Kulusevski is quoted by football.london as saying.

“He has come in and he’s doing really good every day, training hard and learning from the other players. I’m happy for him and I’m happy that I can bring him to the national team with me.”

When asked how important Bergvall could be for Sweden, he said: “Huge. He’s very young but I think he can help us already from [Monday], so I’m happy that he’s going to be there.

“Of course he’s young but we’ll be there to guide him and help him.”
