Premier League predictions: Top 90 players of 2024/25 season

An international break? Three weeks into the new Premier League season? What utter nonsense.
But don’t worry, we’ve got just the tonic to cure such an ailment.
It’s time for the return of 90min’s Top 90 series, ranking who we think will be the best players come the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
Sure, we could go ahead with a ranking of who we think the best 90 Premier League footballers are right now, but isn’t it more fun to look into the future and try to predict some whacky career projections? Of course it is.
Here’s who we think will be in that 90 come the end of the season.

Did you forget about Sandro Tonali until about a week ago? Don’t be shy, it’s ok to admit if you did.
The Italian’s redemption arc following his betting ban is one of the more intriguing subplots of the campaign, and we have him propping up the entire list at 90.
Meanwhile, we’re hoping to see Omari Hutchinson take the Premier League by storm with newly-promoted Ipswich Town, and there could be huge comeback seasons from Fulham’s Emile Smith Rowe and Manchester United’s Mason Mount.

If we were ranking players as they are today, then Gabriel Magalhaes wouldn’t be as low as 70. But his Arsenal spot could be up for grabs, and there’s every chance new signing Riccardo Calafiori could usurp him in the pecking order.
Across London, Romeo Lavia should have a season to remember after his debut campaign at Chelsea was derailed by injury.
Premier League newcomers Savinho and Noussair Mazraoui could enjoy stellar years on opposite sides of Manchester.

Yep, that’s a Nottingham Forest defender at 50 – buy your Murillo stocks now while they’re still relatively low.
We will also freely admit that Dominic Solanke jumped about 25 spots in our draft ranking after his move from Bournemouth to Tottenham Hotspur. That’s not big club bias (*points at the paragraph above*), but rather a bet on him scoring bucket-loads in Ange Postecoglou’s system.
There are equally high hopes for Joshua Zirkzee up at Manchester United, bringing an innate ability to connect attacks as well as finish them off.
It hasn’t been the fastest of starts for Harvey Elliott at Liverpool this season, but we’re firm in our belief he will finally have his breakout year.

This time a year ago, Kobbie Mainoo wouldn’t have cracked the top 14 players at Man Utd. Here he is at 14 in the entire Premier League.
His teammate, Alejandro Garnacho, is also on the cusp of superstardom and we want in on that action.
The only reason Cole Palmer hasn’t cracked our top ten is we have no idea what Chelsea will look like (as a club, not just a team) from week to week, so it’s impossible to say they’ll be great and he will have thrived come May.

Your eyes will only be drawn towards No. 1, so let’s talk about No. 1.
The 90min team is split on who will win the Premier League title this season, but a lot of us believe Arsenal will finally topple Manchester City.
And if that is the case, then Bukayo Saka will likely get a fair chunk of the credit for that. Erling Haaland could score another billion goals, but it may be Saka’s Herculean efforts that take the Gunners back to the top.
