Charlotte FC take on Eastern Conference rivals Atlanta United in Major League Soccer action.
The Crown returned to MLS play last weekend with a 1-1 draw against New York Red Bulls at Bank of America Stadium. Karol Swiderski’s 13th-minute penalty kick was canceled out by Elias Manoel’s strike later on in the first half with both teams sharing the points.
On the other hand, Atlanta fell in their first game back from Leagues Cup action with a 2-0 defeat on the road at LA Galaxy. New Designated Player signing Alexey Miranchuk made his first appearance, but it was the new Galaxy playmaker and Bundesliga legend Marco Reus that made the difference with a goal and an assist to mark his debut in the win,

Pep Biel — who joined Charlotte on loan from Greek giants Olympiacos — made his debut vs Red Bulls in the second half and will look to take on more minutes against Atlanta.

Full-back Ronald Hernandez is still sidelined with a knee injury until early October, meaning Pedro Amador will continue to start at left-back in the meantime. As Atlanta’s newest addition in Miranchuk played the final 30 minutes vs the Galaxy, he could be in line for a start this weekend.

Charlotte have been impressive in the last two meetings against Atlanta, winning two straight vs their rivals on the road. Now, Dean Smith’s side has an opportunity to extend their winning streak at home in front of their supporters.
Although Atlanta have looked better in recent matches, Charlotte have a more well-rounded squad at the moment and should have enough in them to take the three points against the Five Stripes.
