Two Saudi Arabian clubs prepared to match €30m asking price of Barcelona target

Barcelona are currently prioritising deals for Nico Williams and Dani Olmo, which has meant that they are not considering the re-signing of Joao Cancelo at this stage. However, it’s likely to be something that they pursue later in the summer, depending on whether it is financially possible.

In the meantime, Cancelo continues to be courted by clubs in Saudi Arabia. As reported by Sport, Al-Ahli and Al-Ettifaq are both willing to pay the €30m asking price that has been set by Manchester City – the Premier League champions are desperate to part ways with the Portuguese defender, who’s still not in Pep Guardiola’s plans.

However, Cancelo is uninterested in a move to Saudi Arabia, as he only has eyes on a return to Barcelona. His agent, Jorge Mendes, has already agreed personal terms with the Catalans, who want another loan deal with a non-mandatory buy option. Man City would accept another 12-month loan, but only if it included an obligation to purchase next summer.

Barcelona would only be willing to pay €20m for Cancelo in the event of a transfer, but that would only be in the event that they wrap up their more important business first. If a deal does take place, it won’t be for a few weeks yet.
