Premier League side Manchester United are now leading the race for Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee, with Milan’s move having stalled.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported about the situation of the Dutchman, who is in Germany for EURO 2024 and he will decide his future once the tournament ends. Milan have not quite moved again for the player due to the excessive commission demands of his agent Kia Joorabchian, whose initial demands were lower but were then raised them to figures deemed too high by the Rossoneri.

Milan know that commissions are part of the game but there is a limit to paying them. Contacts as a result, have broken down and new talks have not taken place due to the deadlocked situation.

United have meanwhile, raced ahead of Milan in the saga. Their move hasn’t quite entered an advanced stage but they have done enough groundwork in the deal to be the favourite to land the player, especially considering the deadlock involving the Rossoneri. It isn’t to say that Milan will most definitely miss out as Zirkzee could well return from the EUROs and then pick Milan and the commission demands lower, but he would also gladly play in England.

Everything, it is reported, could soon come down to the player’s will.
