Barcelona will look to sign a new defensive midfielder this summer, that much is certain. Right now, it’s hard to determine who they will go for, although they have been strongly linked with Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich in recent weeks – the 29-year-old played under Hansi Flick in Bavaria.

Flick appreciates Kimmich greatly, and he could be the driving force behind a move during the now-open summer transfer window. However, interest from England could complicate matters. Not only are Manchester City interested, CaughtOffside have now reported that Liverpool and Manchester United are also keen.

The report states that Kimmich is likely to cost €30m, due to the fact that he is not expected to sign a new contract at Bayern, who do not want to lose him for free. That is a fee that Barcelona should be able to afford, although they are unlikely to be able to match any wage package offers that come from England.
