One of the biggest transfer stories of the week surrounds Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez, whose future at the Premier League champions now looks far from certain. He’s been heavily linked with Atletico Madrid in recent days, while Barcelona are also said to hold an interest, as per CaughtOffside.
A deal would be extremely difficult for both, as Man City would only entertain a permanent departure for Alvarez, although there is some hope. El Chiringuito have claimed that the Argentine, who will play in this summer’s Copa America for the defending champions, would be very interested in a move to Spain.
The only way that either Barcelona or Atletico Madrid would be able to get Alvarez is through the player’s will, and it appears that they could have that, although much work would need to be done to ensure that Man City would agree to a loan, as permanent deals for both are completely out of the question because of their respective financial situations. File this one under extremely unlikely.
