Fabrizio Romano is now confident that a player Mikel Arteta signed at Arsenal will now make his departure this summer.

In recent windows, Arsenal have enjoyed a ton of success in the transfer market, at least when it comes to Edu Gaspar recruiting players.

Arsenal’s signings last summer enjoyed an exceptional impact, headlined by Declan Rice and Kai Havertz.

And whilst the flagship players of the summer before, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko, look a bit outdated in today’s project, they’ve still been crucial to Arteta’s rebuild.

That being said, Arsenal haven’t necessarily enjoyed the same kind of success when it’s come to selling players.

Perhaps the fee recouped for Folarin Balogun last season, which was around £26m, now looks suitable given he hasn’t quite succeeded at AS Monaco just yet, but many felt as if Arsenal should have demanded more.

Similarly, many feel as if Granit Xhaka should have demanded a bigger fee when heading to Bayer Leverkusen – a player in his prime years. 

And to that end, Arsenal may be hoping to improve that track record when selling Aaron Ramsdale this summer.

There’s been a lot of speculation regarding Ramsdale’s future, who has been gazumped by David Raya as the club’s number one.

And when speaking in his Daily Briefing column, transfer expert Romano has now claimed that the situation is pretty clear.

Romano said: “Ramsdale is expected to leave for sure, but there’s nothing advanced with any club yet, so it’s not clear yet how much Arsenal will get for him.

“Before having a replacement lined up to serve as the backup to David Raya, they want to make sure that they find the best solution possible for Ramsdale.”

And with Arsenal’s underwhelming sales history in mind, the club are said to be holding firm on their £30m valuation of Ramsdale.

Romano admits in his words that it’s ‘not clear’ how much Arsenal will ultimately receive, given the club won’t want the saga to continue throughout the summer.

But for a player of Ramsdale’s quality, it would be disappointing if Arsenal couldn’t at least recoup what they paid.

The England international has been a spectacular goalkeeper for the club at his best, a much-loved member of the team because of his ‘block-buster’ style.

But Raya has proved a calmer, more consistent presence for this back line.

All that being said, Arsenal do have an opportunity to sign the biggest English talent since Declan Rice this summer.
