With Hansi Flick set to take the reins at Barcelona in the coming days, there will be plenty of eyes on possible transfers that the 59-year-old has lined up. In recent days, the Catalan giants have been linked with one of those – Bayer Leverkusen’s Argentine midfield maestro, Exequiel Palacios.
Palacios is off the back of a spectacular season with Leverkusen, winning the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal without losing a match in entire competition. He is aware of the interest that Barcelona reportedly have, and he’s flattered to say the least – quotes via MD.

Barcelona are targeting a new pivot in the summer, and although Palacios can play there, he is more of a central midfielder. However, he could be an option if Flick employs his typical 4-2-3-1 system, although if would be wise if a more defensive-minded player was targeted, especially given the lack of financial wiggle room that the club has.
