Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos has expressed optimism that Real Madrid star,  Vinicius Jr deserves to win the Ballon d’Or award this year.

He made this known on the backdrop of his impressive display for Real Madrid this season.

Recall that Vinicius has already helped Los Blancos win La Liga and has played a key role in taking them to the UEFA Champions League final where they will face Borussia Dortmund.

In a chat with TheMadridZone, Carlos stated that it will be natural for him to win the Ballon d’Or.

“They tried to destroy Vini when he was young and that made him stronger,” the former defender said of Vinicius.

“There are other great players, but we needed a player like Vini. If he continues like this, it will be natural for him to win the Ballon d’Or.”
