With Newcastle United ready to reject any Arsenal interest in Alexander Isak, Mikel Arteta still has the perfect alternative in the Premier League.

Arsenal are thought to want to add a striker to their squad this summer, someone who can dovetail with Kai Havertz across the new season.

Where that leaves both Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah remains to be seen, but Arsenal certainly aren’t lacking ambition.

And as well as recruiting a new centre-forward, Arsenal are also believed to want to strengthen several other positions.

A central midfielder is desired, as well as better depth at both left-back and on the wing if reports are to be believed.

And much like last summer, Arsenal will have a significant transfer budget to back their manager, believing Mikel Arteta is the man to bring serious silverware to the Emirates.

As mentioned, Alexander Isak was thought to be Arsenal’s number one target, but with Newcastle reluctant to sell their star, there could actually be a better alternative for the Gunners to chase.

Man United’s Marcus Rashford could be the perfect addition for Arsenal this summer

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has been left out of their starting XI multiple times this season, and could be a brilliant signing for Mikel Arteta to work with.

According to a report by The Athletic, United would consider selling Rashford this summer if a substantial bid arrives and he tells the club he wants to leave.

It might be hard to imagine that scenario shortly after United have just lifted the FA Cup, but could Rashford be tempted?

Ignoring that cup triumph, Rashford’s club career has stalled, leading to his omission from England’s training squad for the Euros.

And if there’s anyone who could get the best out of Rashford then it could certainly be Arteta.

Arsenal need a new striker as well as a winger, and Rashford could solve two problems at the Emirates.

Right now fans may not necessarily describe the England international as a natural number nine, but that’s certainly something that could change in a fresh environment.

With Paris Saint Germain interested in Rashford in the past, a price tag of £120m was once mentioned.

Perhaps a similar figure would be demanded by Arsenal’s old-rivals today, or they may even reject Premier League interest outright.

But Edu wouldn’t be wrong for testing the waters, a signing that could really ignite Arsenal next season should Rashford return to his confident best.
