Julen Lopetegui could soon make his first signing at West Ham – as a player in Spain expresses a desire to join the Hammers.

The Spaniard has just been officially announced as a replacement for David Moyes, and recruitment plans will presumably now step up alongside Tim Steidten – Director of Football at the London Stadium.

It may not take Julen Lopetegui long to make his mind up on one target, as a player he knows very well is now keen to join West Ham…

Youssef En-Nesyri wants to join West Ham

A story by El Mira in Spain now claims that Sevilla No.15 Youssef En-Nesyri is keen to join West Ham.

The Spanish news outlet believe the Morocco international is ready to reunite with Lopetegui – who he made 115 appearances under at Sevilla, scoring 36 goals – and is excited about the prospect of playing in the Premier League.

It comes after Caught Offside claimed that West Ham are preparing a €25m (£22m) bid to sign En-Nesyri.

When that offer arrives in Sevilla’s inbox, it seems likely it will be accepted, as El Mira add that Sevilla are ready to sell for a sum in the region of €20m (£17m) in fear of losing the Moroccan for nothing in 2025 – the striker will soon enter the final 12 months of his contract.

El Mira add that West Ham have tried to sign En-Nesyri on numerous occasions in the past, although the 26-year-old has consistently turned the Hammers down.

Now – however – a move looks on.

En-Nesyri enjoyed a superb 2023/24 campaign with Sevilla, scoring 19 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions.

Fantastic news

This should be music to the ears of West Ham fans everywhere, as Lopetegui arguably needs a striker more than any other position right now.

The Irons only have Michail Antonio and Danny Ings as recognised senior strikers, both of whom scored a combined total of just eight goals in the 2023/24 campaign.

Therefore, a reliable frontman like En-Nesyri, who is still in the prime of his career at the age of 26, would be a very welcome addition at the London Stadium.
