Arsenal have a number of quality operators in the ranks at the moment and TalkSPORT’s Jason Cundy believes one of them is worth around £150m already.

The Gunners just came up shy in the battle with Manchester City for the Premier League title despite a memorable season.

Mikel Arteta’s side were a joy to watch going forward and defensively, they were brilliant, conceding just the 29 league goals.

Key to that was the brilliant partnership of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba. The duo have formed one of the best defensive partnerships around.

Of course, Saliba’s form has seen the likes of Real Madrid declare an interest in him.

And according to TalkSPORT’s Jason Cundy, Saliba is now worth a huge sum

William Saliba is worth £150m to Arsenal

In an exchange live on air on TalkSPORT speaking about Saliba and his value, Townsend and Cundy went back and forth before deciding on a monumental figure.

Jason Cundy: “I am going to go £130 million.”

Andy Townsend: “Do Arsenal sell at that price?”

Jason Cundy: “Maybe. If they did, Arsenal fans listen to this. They couldn’t come on TalkSPORT and moan about the price. I think they would moan about him going and they will be complaining, and understandably rightly so. But if someone comes in with £130 million, the problem they have got then, Arsenal, he has been the best centre-back in the country.”

Andy Townsend: “He has been incredible this season.”

Jason Cundy: “I am not sure that gets him. I have just changed my mind. I am not sure that gets him. I think you might be coming in, I am going to go £150 million.”

Andy Townsend: “That’s an unbelievable amount of dough.”

Jason Cundy: “The thing is, centre-halves of that quality, try and find them. Give me another three that’s near him, of his age. £150 million. I have just changed my mind.”

Saliba is the next Virgil van Dijk

There is no doubt that Arsenal have got themselves one of the best defenders around right now.

Saliba has been outstanding since his return to The Emirates and it is bizarre to think there was a time when he was being considered as a player who might not even get a chance.

Right now, he’s very much on the way to being the best defender in the world, and at just 23, he really can go on to become the main man.

We saw this with Virgil van Dijk when he moved from Celtic, to Southampton and then to Liverpool before becoming the best around.

Saliba, then, is very much on that same pathway and that £150m figure mentioned is probably right.
