Manchester United have suffered an injury blow ahead of their FA Cup final game against Manchester City at Wembley.

The Red Devils’ Premier League campaign came to a disappointing end. They finished eighth, which is their lowest finish since the 1989-90 season.

Erik ten Hag has one more opportunity to salvage what has been a disappointing year, but one of his key players is now guaranteed to miss the game due to injury.

Manchester United have had a number of injury issues this season.

Many of their players have missed large parts of the campaign due to fitness issues, and that has played a part in United’s performances this term.

Erik ten Hag has been forced to deploy Casemiro in central defence because of injuries to his first-choice centre-halves. That hasn’t worked well at all.

Ahead of the game against Manchester City at Wembley on Saturday, there is some bad news about one of the club’s most experienced players.

Harry Maguire has been out with an injury since the start of May, but there was some hope that he would return for the final on Saturday.

However, Ten Hag confirmed in his press conference on Thursday that the Englishman, branded as ‘world-class’ by Wayne Rooney on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football (April 4, 2022), is ruled out of the game.

After the announcement, Maguire took to his Instagram Story to confirm the same.

He wrote: “Gutted I’ll be missing the final. I’d do anything to be available but now full focus on supporting the boys. Come on United!”

It is a shame that Harry Maguire is ruled out for Manchester United’s big game at Wembley on Saturday.

However, Erik ten Hag finally has something to be happy about as three other players who were doubts for the final are now available.

After claiming that Maguire’s injury didn’t heal as quickly as Manchester United expected, the Dutchman confirmed that Mason Mount, Victor Lindelof and Anthony Martial should all be available.

The fact that Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are available is even more good news for the Red Devils ahead of what is their biggest game of the season.

Manchester City will go into the game at Wembley as the favourites, but the magic of the FA Cup has taught us over the years that anything is possible.
