Everton fans were quick to mock Arsenal supporters after Phil Foden’s first goal for Manchester City today.

Mikel Arteta’s side headed into the final day of the season needing results to swing their way to capture the Premier League title.

Arsenal couldn’t have got off to a worse start, with Phil Foden netting inside three minutes to hand Manchester City the lead against West Ham.

The Premier League’s Player of the Season lashed an effort into the top corner from range and inevitably, the news reached the Emirates Stadium just minutes later.

What Everton fans chanted to Arsenal supporters

Following Foden’s first effort for City, Everton fans were keen to point out to Arsenal’s home supporters that they were set to miss out on the title.

ESPN journalist James Olley took to X and claimed Everton’s away supporters chanted: “You nearly won the league.”

Things got worse for Arsenal just 15 minutes later as Foden doubled City’s lead with a well-taken finish.

Arteta’s men also fell behind after a deflected Idrissa Gueye free-kick beat David Raya from range.

Takehiro Tomiyasu levelled things up for the Gunners three minutes later and a stunning overhead kick from Mohammed Kudus offered Arsenal some hope heading into the second half.

Arsenal miss out on Premier League title

Despite a glimmer of hope for Arsenal at the end of the first half, Rodri’s effort on the hour mark restored City’s two-goal cushion.

Arteta’s side got the job done at the Emirates Stadium in the end thanks to a late Kai Havertz effort.

Arsenal will undoubtedly be disappointed after a gut-wrenching end to the season but there has been undeniable progress.

The Gunners have proven they can perform and pick up results when it truly matters, something they have lacked in previous years under Arteta.

Based on Arsenal’s current trajectory, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a Premier League title head to north London within the next couple of seasons.
