Getafe’s 1-0 La Liga defeat at Alaves was paused in the first half following chanting towards striker Mason Greenwood.

Neither side have anything left to play for this season as they settle in for a joint mid table finish in the run in.

The hosts secured all three points, to move two points ahead of Getafe, into 10th and 11th place respectively.

However, the main talking point of the night came on 18 minutes, as referee Jorge Figueroa Vazquez halted the game.

Home fans were warned against making comments towards Greenwood, via the stadium tannoy, as ‘Greenwood, die’ was shouted from a section of supporters.

The chanting reduced, but members of the Getafe coaching staff took issue with selected shouts aimed at Greenwood, as the game was played out in full.

Getafe are yet to confirm if they will make a complaint to La Liga with Alaves potentially facing an investigation.

The 22-year-old forward remains at the centre of controversy after being accused of attempted rape, coercive behaviour and assault with bodily harm two years ago, but the charges were dropped after key witnesses exited the case
