Sunday is the final matchday of the 2023/24 Premier League season and Arsenal remain in the title picture.

The Gunners host Everton at the Emirates Stadium, with every game kicking off at 4pm, and they retain hope of winning their first title since 2024.

However, Arsenal’s title fate is not in their hands. Manchester City are two points ahead at the top, so if they beat West Ham, the title is theirs.

And considering how strong Man City are in the run-in, optimism regarding the Gunners’ title chances isn’t particularly high among numerous pundits.

Indeed, even Arsenal fan Darren Bent reckons Man City will have too much for the Hammers and win their fourth consecutive title.

Although Bent is confident the Gunners will get the better of Everton, he doesn’t think it’ll be enough on the day.

Bent said on talkSPORT on Friday evening (18/5/2024, 5:42pm): “Listen, I am not going to give up, but I understand the task.

“I think Arsenal will get past Everton. They are at home and have got a good home record against Everton. Playing really well.

“So, I expect Arsenal to get their job done, but I can’t see West Ham getting anything from Manchester City.

“That’s just the problem. If it was anyone else in that scenario, I might go, ‘Do you know what? They have got a chance there, West Ham. It’s not a foregone conclusion’.

“When you look at Manchester City and the way they are purring along right now, I can’t see any other result other than Man City winning.”

Arsenal have enjoyed a superb season. Taking the title race to the final day is no mean feat in this era of Man City dominance.

However, some bad results along the way for the Gunners have left them in this difficult position, given how strong Pep Guardiola’s charges are when they gain momentum in the run-in.

The thing about City is, they just know how to get over the line. They can sweep opponents aside or, like against Tottenham, deliver efficient displays. The outcome is the same – three points.

Hopefully West Ham’s squad will be taking exception to the fact most seem to be writing them off against City and they put in an inspired performance in David Moyes’ last game at the club.

After all, the Hammers just need to draw, and if Arsenal manage to beat Everton, the title is theirs on goal difference. It’s not impossible.
