Arsenal’s academy has produced some incredible talent in recent years.

Emile Smith Rowe, Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah are all first-teamers at Arsenal these days, while Bukayo Saka is arguably the Gunners’ best player.

The academy talent tap hasn’t been turned off either. Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly looks to be potential stars of the future too.

Speaking on The Debrief, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Arsenal’s academy plan, and he says that the Gunners are seriously prioritising creating one of the best academies in the world.

Arsenal want to be the world’s best academy

Romano shared what he’s heard about Arsenal’s academy.

“I think in terms of the youth strategy they have. It is about the academy. I am hearing that Arsenal want to be a really really strong academy with some of the best talents in England for the future of the club. They want to invest in the academy, what I am hearing is that Arsenal really want to build one of the best academies in the world,” Romano said.

Arsenal academy growth isn’t easy

It’s great to hear that Arsenal are looking to improve their academy further, but they don’t have an easy task on their hands.

As a London club, Arsenal are fishing in one of the most competitive ponds in world football when they’re scouring for young local talent.

The likes of Chelsea and Tottenham will have their eyes on similar young players, while West Ham, Fulham and Crystal Palace also have a knack of picking out talented youngsters.

Of course, what can separate Arsenal from the rest is top-level scouting, facilities and coaching, and that’s where investment makes the difference.

Arsenal will always have an incredible academy, but whether or not they can reach that next level remains to be seen.
