Alan Shearer has delivered his verdict on Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham Hotspur following his angry reaction recently.

Spurs suffered their fifth loss in six games on Tuesday. They lost 2-0 at home against Manchester City and failed to lend a helping hand to Arsenal.

Some Tottenham fans were happy with the result that night, and that seemed to irk Postecoglou, who expressed his frustration after the game.

Ange Postecoglou has always been very honest in press conferences since he joined Tottenham.

The Australian has had a tremendous impact at Spurs. He completely changed their philosophy and fans are loving the style of football at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium now.

Postecoglou should be fairly happy with his debut season as a whole, but his side’s results over the last month have been really poor.

Tottenham have won just one of their last six games in the Premier League. Their most recent defeat came against Manchester City, and Postecoglou was really angry after the game.

The 58-year-old seemed particularly annoyed with some people happily accepting a defeat against City because it hurt Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League title.

Postecoglou claimed after the game that the foundations of the club are really ‘fragile’, which is something he wasn’t at all happy with.

That has cast a bit of doubt on Postecoglou’s future as the last Tottenham manager to have a go at the club – Antonio Conte – left shortly after.

Gary Lineker asked Alan Shearer on the Rest is Football podcast if he thought Postecoglou will walk away after his angry comments this week.

The Newcastle United legend replied: “No, I’d be amazed.

“He has had success and he knows what it tastes like and that’s what he wants to bring there. But no, I’d be amazed if anything was to break there at this moment in time.”

What Tottenham staff member did that angered Ange Postecoglou

Ange Postecoglou has been trying to build a winning mentality at Tottenham from his first day at the club.

Spurs have not won any silverware for over 16 years. The only thing everyone at the club should be focused on is bringing success to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, ahead of the game against Manchester City on Tuesday, some people inside the club were relaxed about losing because that would hurt Arsenal.

Postecoglou did not like that one bit, but what made him absolutely furious was when one staff member joked that the Tottenham boss should play the youth team against City.

That sort of mentality goes completely against what Postecoglou is trying to build at Tottenham.

We don’t expect the Australian to go anywhere at the moment, but if the mentality of the people inside the club does not change, there’s every chance he will consider his options, just like Antonio Conte did in 2023.
