Milan set to make new manager decision this weekend

Milan will be able to make their decision on their new manager for next season this weekend.

According to a report by Luca Bianchin in La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Milan management are expected to conclude their search for a new manager this weekend and take a call.

The Rossoneri CEO Gerry Cardinale was in advanced talks with former Spanish National Team head coach Julen Lopetegui for the managerial role at the club. The move fell after West Ham swooped in and Milan fans resented the decision. Since then, Porto’s Sergio Conceicao and Lille’s Paulo Fonseca have emerged as the new targets.

Milan feel Paulo Fonseca would be the right man to lead the club as he can work in harmony with the players. While Conceicao can ensure a dynamic structure of gameplay, he is a complex character and sometimes engages in verbal controversies.

The Les Dogues manager has two offers on the table — one from Milan and another from Marseille. However, he is yet to respond to his future as Lille are playing to secure a Champions League spot this weekend against Brest. Following the conclusion of the French league, Milan will have an answer from him and they can progress with the appointment.
