Arsenal beat Manchester United 1-0 on Sunday, but it was far from a vintage performance from the Gunners.

Indeed, while a win at Old Trafford is never to be sniffed at, Arsenal were far from their best against the Red Devils.

Manchester United were forced to field a weakened team against Arsenal at the weekend, and yet, the Gunners only managed to win 1-0.

Speaking on the Handbrake Off Podcast, Adrian Clarke has been reviewing Arsenal’s win against United, and while he praised Kai Havertz for his assist, he stated that he thinks the German actually had quite a poor game.

Clarke shared his verdict on the £65m man and his performance against United.

“I think Kai did superbly (for the assist), I think he had quite a bad game actually. He gave the ball away a lot, he was way below where he’s been as of late, but in the moment that mattered he delivered,” Clarke said.

Clarke is right, this wasn’t Havertz’s best game in an Arsenal shirt, and yet, he still made the difference for the north London club.

His assist was an inspired bit of play, and, ultimately, that’s all that matters at this point of the season.

You can play absolutely terribly for 90 minutes, but as long as you come up with the goods in terms of end product, it doesn’t matter, especially when you’re going away to Old Trafford in the middle of a title race.

Havertz didn’t play his best football, but, to be honest, neither did many of his teammates.

Three points are in the bag and that’s all that matters at this point of the season, Arsenal did enough to take the Premier League title race to the final day, and now, fate will decide whether or not they’ll win the title.
