Newcastle are now ready to step up their pursuit of a Premier League star as Eddie Howe targets summer reinforcements.
After a quiet January window, the Magpies are seemingly ready to spend, following a difficult 2023/24 campaign which has seen a quite unbelievable injury crisis occur at St James’ Park – as you can see below.

Newcastle ready to accelerate Aaron Ramsdale deal
TBR Football understand Newcastle are now ready to step up interest in Aaron Ramsdale.
The Arsenal No.1 has been replaced by David Raya at the Emirates Stadium this season, and sources have told TBR Football that Mikel Arteta will not stop the England international from leaving if he opts to do so.
Howe is now assessing the possibility of bringing Ramsdale – who he worked with at Bournemouth – to Newcastle, with the Magpies planning to have the Arsenal outcast competing against Pope for a starting role.

TBR Football understand Chelsea were also considering a move for the Chesterton-born glovesman.
However, it is believed the Blues are now more focused on Aston Villa No.1 Emiliano Martinez and Everton No.1 Jordan Pickford, meaning Newcastle effectively have a free run at signing Ramsdale, as things stand.
No gamble for Eddie Howe
It is always a risk to bring a new face in, although Howe will have little doubts about what Ramsdale – who Steve Bruce recently called a “fantastic” goalkeeper – could do at Newcastle.
The 25-year-old previously made 37 appearances under the Magpies boss at Bournemouth, keeping five clean sheets while conceding 62 goals.

Bournemouth were relegated in that 2019/20 campaign, although Ramsdale personally shone, earning an immediate return to Premier League football with a £18.5m move to Sheffield United, before Arsenal snapped him up for £30m the following summer.
Now, after a period apart, Howe and Ramsdale could reunite.
