Harry Kane is undoubtedly one of the great strikers in modern football.

Over 200 Premier League goals, a World Cup Golden Boot, and numerous records at the top level, Kane is one of the best strikers of all-time already.

Speaking to Goal, Kane has been ranking some of the other greatest strikers in history, and he’s made an interesting claim about one former Manchester United player.

Indeed, Kane put Wayne Rooney second in his list of legendary strikers ahead of the likes of Sergio Aguero and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Kane spoke about Rooney and where he ranks amongst the greats.

“Aguero?” Kane was asked.

“Three,” Kane said.

“Rooney?”

“Two,” Kane said.

“Ibra?”

“Four,” Kane said.

“R9?”

“One,” Kane said.

“Drogba?”

“Five, I’m pretty happy with that,” Kane concluded.

Wayne Rooney vs Sergio Aguero

This is a debate that is bound to divide fans all across the Premier League.

Wayne Rooney and Sergio Aguero are undoubtedly two of the greatest strikers of all-time, and it’s hard to pick between the two.

Aguero had the better goalscoring rate during his time in the Premier League, and he did win a Golden Boot.

However, Rooney did win a Champions League and perhaps had more to his game in terms of playmaking as well.

Sergio Aguero may just edge this argument due to how clinical he was for Manchester City and how many times he turned up in the biggest of big moments.

That isn’t to say that Rooney didn’t do the same for Manchester United, but Aguero elevated City to a level they’d never been at before, while Rooney almost picked up where Ruud van Nistelrooy was leaving off when he joined United.

Regardless, the £26m signing of Rooney all those years ago has to be considered one of the greatest signings in Manchester United’s history.
