Tottenham could now sign a defender who apparently can’t even take a throw-in properly.

Ange Postecoglou is understandably looking at his defence, after watching his Spurs side concede 13 goals across their last four Premier League outings.

A story from the Telegraph claims that Emerson Royal is one defender the Australian wants to sell this summer, and a replacement has now – seemingly – been identified…

Tottenham consider Kyle Walker-Peters move

Postecoglou could bring a familiar face back to N17 this summer, with Kyle Walker-Peters emerging as a target for Tottenham.

That is according to talkSPORT.

Spurs actually sold the England international to Southampton back in August 2020 for a sum of £12m, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg moving the other way for £15m.

It is said that Postecoglou sees the Southampton No.2 as an ideal option to compete with Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie in the full-back positions, thanks to his attacking mindset.

Walker-Peters sees his contract at St Mary’s expire in 12 months, and talkSPORT believe Southampton will have to sell the Londoner if they fail to win the Championship play-offs.

The 27-year-old has made 43 Championship appearances this season, scoring three goals while also providing three assists.

Spurs target apparently can’t take a throw-in

According to West Ham No.9 Michail Antonio, Walker-Peters cannot actually take a throw-in.

Speaking on The Footballer’s Football Podcast, the Jamaica international said: “Kyle Walker-Peters cannot take a throw-in to save his life. I don’t know if there’s such a thing as a foul throw any more because of that guy.”

If that is genuinely the case, we’re sure Postecoglou is a good enough coach to help the Spurs academy graduate out in this regard.

Ultimately, whilst he may struggle with throw-ins, Walker-Peters is a superb dribbler who would fit in well under the 58-year-old.

As shown by WhoScored, the Tottenham target averaged 1.9 successful dribbles per game in the Championship this season.
