Ange Postecoglou can’t be very pleased with his Tottenham team right now.

Spurs have lost four consecutive league games for the first time in 20 years, and the Australian’s tactics are beginning to look incredibly naïve.

However, as we saw at the beginning of the season, Postecoglou’s style can work if the right players are playing with confidence. However, that confidence is nowhere to be seen at the moment.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Owen Hargreaves has been reviewing Tottenham’s loss to Liverpool at the weekend, and he noted that Postecoglou got annoyed with Rodrigo Bentancur after giving the ball away in the second-half at one point.

Ange Postecoglou got annoyed with Rodrigo Bentancur

Hargreaves shared his observation on the Tottenham manager and the £22m midfielder.

“He just has to carry the ball a bit more to let these boys get onside. Maddison probably would’ve played a better ball, but once he’s in that gap and he makes a mistake, you can see Ange on the side and he’s saying ‘come one guys, are we making passes like that at Anfield, for real?” Hargreaves said.

Rodrigo Bentancur has been frustrating

Ange Postecoglou was annoyed with Bentancur at the weekend, and that has to be considered a running trend of this season.

The South American has been very frustrating to say the least this term, as the player himself has said.

Since returning from his injury he’s looked half a step behind his top level. He’s not playing with the confidence he used to and he seems to be second-guessing every pass he makes.

When you play under Ange Postecoglou you have to be brave and you have to be decisive, and, at the moment, Bentancur isn’t that player.

At his best, Bentancur could be perfect for Postecoglou, but, frustratingly, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen the midfielder play to the best of his ability.
