There were a couple of different faces in Tottenham training on Wednesday morning.

Sky Sports had cameras at Spurs’ training ground for the morning session on Wednesday, and two players who have been out on loan were spotted back at Tottenham.

Indeed, the EFL season is now over, barring the play-offs, and two Spurs youngsters who were playing in the lower leagues are now back at Spurs.

Speaking on Sky Sports News (8/5/24 11:00AM), Michael Bridges noted how both Ashley Phillips and Alfie Devine were back at Spurs after their loan spells with Plymouth Argyle.

Bridges spotted the ‘phenomenal’ defender and Devine back at training.

“Ashley Phillips there in the background as well. Ashley Phillips and Alfie Devine who have been on loan at Plymouth, it looks like they’re back as well,” Bridges said.

Ashley Phillips’ chance to impress

Ashley Phillips now has a chance to impress at Tottenham again.

His loan spell with Plymouth went well as he received plenty of praise during his time in the south-west, and now, he may want to make a charge for the first-team at Tottenham.

Spurs’ recent defensive record has been poor to say the least, and they may want to shake things up at the back come next season.

Phillips is making great strides as a young player, and if he can show his value in these training sessions between now and the end of the season, he could get a chance in pre-season to showcase his ability.

Depending on the terms of his loan with Plymouth, Phillips could perhaps even feature for Tottenham before the end of this season, but, most likely, his loan deal with Plymouth will run until the 30th June, so it would be a surprise if Phillips played for Spurs between now and the end of the campaign.
