Despite financial turmoil, struggles to register new signings and missing out on their top target during the summer transfer window, the Hansi Flick era at Barcelona has started surprisingly well.

La Blaugrana have won all four of their La Liga games thus far this season, and opened up a healthy four point lead over arch rivals Real Madrid as a result.

Here’s everything we’ve learned about Flick’s Barca in the first few weeks of 2024/25.

After a full summer chasing Nico Williams, Barcelona ultimately failed to sign their number one target and have had to make do with Raphinha on the left flank.

And considering the fact that the ‘make do’ option has three goals and two assists to his name in La Liga already in 2024/25, we doubt many Barca fans are too upset about not being able to sign Williams.

Raphinha is playing like someone with a point to prove right now, and bah gawd is he proving it.

If he continues this fine form, La Blaugrana may not have to go back in for Williams in January after all.

Ok, we may not have ‘learned’ this in August 2024, we found this out quite a few months ago … but still, when assessing Barca’s performances, Lamine Yamal is always worth a shoutout.

As expected, the 17-year-old has brought his stunning Euro 2024 campaign back to club football, becoming Barca’s creator-in-chief from the right flank.

His four assists in four games are a La Liga best, and he’ll likely add at least another 20 by the end of the season. He’s that good.

For most of last season, for some weird reason, Robert Lewandowski could barely hit a barn door.

In the early weeks of this season, he’s looked back to his ruthless best.

Four goals in four games is much more like it from Lewa, and numbers that we’d come to expect from the striker for the best part of the last decade.

Eyebrows were raised when Barcelona signed Dani Olmo, not because of his ability, but his notably patchy injury record.

Adding a midfielder who has missed 49 games through injury in the last two seasons to a midfield which already includes Pedri, Gavi and Frenkie De Jong – two of which are currently out injured, the other is usually out injured – seemed like an odd move.

When fit though, there’s no doubting that Dani Olmo can be a match winner for La Blaugrana.

As evidenced in the first few weeks of his Barca career, if the club can keep Olmo fit, he could help fire them to a La Liga title triumph come May.
