Following the conclusion of Arsenal’s season against Everton yesterday, there’s already been a lot of talk regarding the signings they need for next.

Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar seem set for another busy summer, one that promises both high-profile arrivals and exits.

It seems as if several futures need to be decided within Arsenal’s squad before key signings can be made.

Both Thomas Partey and Gabriel Jesus have been linked with moves away of late, two players Arsenal’s project has perhaps moved beyond.

The duo could easily remain and benefit Arteta’s ambitions next season, but either way a timely decision will need to be made.

Should Gabriel Jesus leave then there’s real merit to bringing in a player like Alexander Isak.

And should Thomas Partey depart, a move for a profile like Martin Zubimendi could also make sense.

That being said, all of the focus shouldn’t just be on transfer activity, and there are several players in this team ready for much bigger roles.

Takehiro Tomiyasu proved he’s ready to be Arsenal’s starting left-back after Everton display

This season Arsenal haven’t enjoyed the consistency that Ben White provides at right-back on the other side of their defence.

Both Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko have their weaknesses, and Arsenal have been crying out for better-rounded option.

Enter Takehiro Tomiyasu, who once again demonstrated against Everton that he’s ready to be a key starter for Arsenal next season.

Tomiyasu delivered an all-action performance on the left, and it wasn’t just his goal that was worth celebrating.

The Japan international inverted so effectively, whilst also overlapping Leandro Trossard when needed.

The £20m-defender has endured a tough time with injuries during his Arsenal career to date, but if he can change that, there’s no reason why he can’t be Arteta’s permanent solution.

Via Sofascore, Tomiyasu was able to complete 89% of his 47 passes yesterday, win five duels, make two interceptions, and he of course scored his goal.

He’s got it all, and could save Arsenal a lot of money this summer if they do have adequate belief that he can stay fit and dovetail with Jurrien Timber on the left.

All that being said, Alan Shearer has just provided a prediction of what Arsenal will do next season after missing out on the title.
